Las Cruces Sun News - La Posta Bartender Best in the State, October, 2016

Our very own Chance Miller took top honors at the New Mexico Tournament of Bartenders in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Chance beat out some close competitiong by creating his very own drink that he calls the Bloody Scotch. The next time Chance is working be sure to order one!

We were honored to host the editor of one of Finland's most popular magazines dealing with travel and tourism in the United States.

The writer was here over the Christmas holidays so the compound was decked out in beautiful Christmas decorations throughout.

To be honest we're not sure what the article says, but it's beautiful and very flattering just to be included, and to know that the La Posta name is being spread internationally!

USA Today, December 2015, Places to Dine with Over the Top Christmas Decor

For a holiday special USA Today featured La Posta de Mesilla as a special place to dine in the US with "over the top" Christmas decor! La Posta has been decorating the interior of the compound for over two decades now, and each room tells a special story.

Additionally, the decorations themselves are inspired by the region and draw on Mexico and the border. La Posta is truly a special place to dine during the holidays!

New Mexico Magazine, January 2015

New Mexico Magazine asked their readers to name their favorite New Mexican restaurants in the entire state of New Mexico. Out of all of the answers they recieved the listed the top 12. Out of those 12, La Posta de Mesilla was honored to be in the list!

The brief article also talks about New Mexico's unique cuisine - as the title says, "not quite Mex, not quite Tex."

The Splendid Table, Episode 505, NPR

We were thrilled to be included in episode 505 of the Spendid Table, the premiere food and travel show on National Public Radio. This episode first aired in 2012, but they decided to air it again at the beginning of 2015. We were featured as a destination of Jane and Michael Stern, authors of Road Food (which we are also delighted to be featured in).


Epicure & Culture - August 11, 2014

The Food, Wine & Culture website, Epicure & Curious included La Posta de Mesilla in its roundup of Top 15 Unusual Wine Tastings from Around the World! They feature our friend, Kelley Coffeen, who gives wine tasting paired with different kinds of chile here at La Posta!

Las Cruces Bulletin - April 25, 2014

The Las Cruces Bulletin featured an article about the Dona Ana Arts Council's 2014 Awards. Owners of La Posta de Mesilla, Jerean and Tom Hutchinson, received the Papen Family Award, the highest award given for "those who have given extraordinarily of their time, talent and financial support to the arts in the Mesilla Valley"


USA Today - April 18, 2014

In USA Today's article, New Mexico: A Land Enchanted by Chile Peppers, writer Jayne Clark features La Posta de Mesilla as a destination for chile lovers. Her story discusses the "addiction" we New Mexicans have for the beloved green chile, and traces that addiction from the northern part of the state to the south, where she finally stops at our restaurant to pair our salsa and food with the perfect wine!


New Mexico Magazine - April 2014

Writer Cheryl Alters Jamison honored La Posta de Mesilla in April 2014's New Mexico Magazine in her Tasting NM section. We were one of only three classic "red-and-green" restaurants featured that she said, "always remain fresh."

Aside from our history, Jamison also notes our expansive remodel. In 2013 we opened up much of the compound and completed an extensive remodel that retained the history and unique qualities of our building.




La Posta de Mesilla has been included in the latest edition of Roadfood, a coast-to-coast travel guide to 900 roadside restaurants across the United States.

In addition, the editors of Roadfood included La Posta de Mesilla in a new feature of the 2014 edition: the ROADFOOD HONOR ROLL. This is an elite 100 of the very best places editors found during their research.

According to writer and editor, Michael Stern, those listed in the Roadfood Honor Roll are "restaurants we have come to love because we believe that each is a unique expression of something wonderful about American food and foodways.”

Bucket List Bar: Historic Saloons, Pubs and Dives of America

Authors Dr. Clint Lanier and Derek Hembree included La Posta de Mesilla's Corn Exchange Cantina in their travel guide to the most historic bars in the country.

The Corn Exchange Cantina is the location of the original cantina in the Corn Exchange Hotel in the late 1800s. As Mesilla's stagecoach stop the Corn Exchange Hotel, and undoubtedly its cantina, saw a number of notable guests, like Ulysses S. Grant and even Billy the Kid.

La Posta de Mesilla Named One of 10 Great Mexican Food Restaurants in the United States

Ahead of Cinco de Mayo in May 2013, USA Today Travel listed 10 of the greatest Mexico food restaurants in the United States and honored La Posta de Mesilla with a spot at the top!

Their travel expert says La Posta is "very traditional New Mexican. Flavors are based more on Indian concepts, using chiles."
